Becky Olstad is a
photographer, writer and teacher based in Minneapolis,
Minnesota. As a photographer, she specializes in
documentary and on-location commercial photography. Her
work ranges in coverage from the conflict in northern
Uganda to bait shops in rural Minnesota. Olstad draws from
both her bachelor’s degree in studio art and master’s
degree in photojournalism to create compelling portraiture
in both candid and posed settings. She brings a sensitivity
and compassion to her projects that establishes a rapport
with each subject and creates an environment that allows
genuine emotion to flourish. In addition to her
photographic projects, Olstad teaches at the Art Institutes
International Minnesota.
