Ringside

Photographer

My grandfather died shortly after I was born. I grew up on stories of his life relayed by my father, his only child. These stories typically featured an epic climax in which the protagonist, my grandfather (who was also a boxer), set out to right the wrongs of this world – usually with his fists. For him, boxing seemed less like an athletic contest and more like a code he lived by. In an effort to get to know him better — I found myself ringside.
